STRENGTHENING EXPERTISE AND BIOINFORMATICS TO CONTROL ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE IN WEST AFRICA», ERASMUS+ KA2- COOPERATION FOR INNOVATION AND THE EXCHANGE OF GOOD PRACTICES

2020

Period :

2020-2023

The project aims to strengthen the quality of higher education in Benin and
Burkina Faso.

1. Context

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) poses a growing threat to global public health,
particularly in West Africa, where technical and human capacities for its surveillance and management remain limited.
The project "Strengthening The project "Strengthening
Expertise and Bioinformatics to Control Antimicrobial Resistance in West Africa," funded
by the ERASMUS+ KA2 program – Cooperation for Innovation and the Exchange of
Good Practices, aims to strengthen the quality of higher education in Benin and
Burkina Faso. It aims to equip partner universities with advanced skills
in microbiology, bioinformatics, and AMR management in order to train a new
generation of experts capable of effectively responding to this regional health challenge.

2. Objectives

General Objective

Strengthen the capacity of health actors to detect and monitor antimicrobial resistance in West Africa.

Specific Objectives

  • - Develop and implement innovative and interdisciplinary teaching modules on the surveillance and management of antimicrobial resistance. - Promote academic and scientific cooperation between universities in West Africa and Europe for the sharing of experiences.

3. Résultats Essentiels

  • Strengthening learners' capacity to monitor RAM through bioinformatics

4. Livrables

  • Establishment of a certificate in molecular epidemiology of antimicrobial resistance and the One Health approach.
